Baron Adolphe de Meyer (1868-1946) was an insatiable traveler with a constant yearning for new horizons. A celebrated fashion photographer, but also an interior designer, he epitomized what it means to be a multi‑faceted artist. A member of the Photo‑Secession mentored by Alfred Stieglitz, he was a master in the art of soft focus and the staging of subjects. His outdoor shots also reveal, without paradox, his quest for crisp definition in the representation of forms. For Cecil Beaton, he was ‘the Debussy of photography’.
