In this volume, French artist and illustrator Aurore de la Morinerie explores the Mediterranean Sea, the world’s largest inland sea and its ecosystem, from the deepest abysses to the surface. Nature is ever-present in the work of the artist, who was born in Saint-Lô in 1962. She also takes black and white photographs, which are integral to her drawing practice. While studying fashion design at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris, Aurore de la Morinerie became fascinated with Chinese painting and calligraphy, which have had a profound influence on her work. Since the 1990s, she has regularly collaborated with luxury brands and prominent designers, and her work has featured in prestigious fashion magazines, as well as in group and solo exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world.
